My name is James Mitchell. I have been playing hockey for 20+ years. I grew up playing in the Granite City Youth Hockey Association from 1994-2000 which is now known as Twin Bridges Lightning. I also played hockey for Roxana High School from 1997-2002. I have two wonderful boys that play for Twin Bridges, as well. Cohen is my oldest and plays 10u, and Brayden, my youngest, plays 6u.

I was the coordinator in the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 seasons for Twin Bridges 8u. I also coordinated Spring League for the 6u-8u 2016-2017 season. I directed the “Rock the House” 10u tournament at East Alton this year, which was exciting and successful. From the time that my children started playing hockey, I have been able to coach several teams. Coaching Twin Bridges has been a great experience, and I have been doing it for 5+ years. When the 2019 Spring League 10u-12u session begins, I will be the coordinator and am looking forward to working with all of our youth to progress their hockey skills. More than anything, I am looking forward to having fun and making this year an exciting and memorable time for our youth and parents.

By electing me, I will work hard with our other board members on bringing positivity, creativity, and enthusiasm to the Twin Bridges Lightning Association. Also, I am excited to brainstorm ideas with the board and parents to make the club the most successful that we can. The most important thing for me is being a positive role model not only for my own kids, but for our youth of all ages. I have loved being a part of the Twin Bridges family and hope to continue with a more active role. Thank you for your time and consideration. Let’s go Lightning!

Hello! I am Andrea Estabrook and I would be honored to serve on the Twin Bridges Board of Directors. I have been around hockey for many years, my long time neighbor played growing up and I loved to watch him play... The upcoming season will be my son, Anthony's, fourth season and he will be in 10U.

During the 2017 and 2018 season I served as the admin for our 8U divison as well as the coordinator for the 2018 Winter Classic, an 8U Jamboree hosted by TBL. Also during the 2017-2018 season I ran 2 TJ's pizza fundraisers for both our 6U and 8U divisions. This 2018 and 2019 season I have served as the financial director for 10U Silver as well as helped with the Fall 2018 TJ's pizza fundraiser. During all of our seasons in TBL, I have been active in working bingos at the KC hall as well.

If elected to serve on the board of directors, I would work hard with the current board members to continue the path of success for Twin Bridges. Creating an environment that is welcoming and positive to our new families as well as our returning ones...
Also creating open communication and transparency between the board and TBL membership. It would be my pleasure and honor to work for and serve the families that this great sport unites.

Thank you for your consideration.

I’ve have been around Hockey my whole life. I’ve been involved in all aspects of the game. Playing, Coaching, and Officiating, now it’s time to be involved as a Board member. There are a lot of things about TBL I like, There are also a lot of things that can be improved. Some things I would like to focus on are Club inrolment, and Coaching Education. Not a single Tbl team played for a State Championship in the Blue Note Cup this year. I don’t think that’s acceptable. I’m asking for your vote in April because I want this Club to be one that people flock to not from.

Candidate 4 - Eric Shorley

When my son first started playing hockey in 2012 I could not stand just sitting in the bleachers watching practices and games, so I knew that I had to get involved.  My focus on the ice was not just to make sure that only my child was happy, comfortable, engaged and successful; but rather that every single child involved was.  After a few seasons under my belt, I knew that I had more to offer off the ice so I successfully ran for the Board of Directors.

I currently still serve as a member of the TBL Board of Directors.  During my tenure we have successfully grown enrollment, launched many additional internal programs (i.e. training and development), strengthened our relationships externally (i.e. Little Blues, Elite Hockey Training), streamlined and standardized many processes & procedures and successfully brought our club and players to the next level.

While TBL is a hockey club, it’s obvious to say that I want every single child to have an extremely successful hockey career and also look to provide an atmosphere that gives them the opportunity to play to the best of their ability.  While I absolutely care about winning, I also place a very high value on making sure that our children walk away from the rink learning – discipline, leadership, kindness, perseverance, ambition, patience and compassion.

Twin Bridges is much more than just a hockey club.  With the support of the incredible children, parents and coaches, and along with the leadership in place we’ve grown to be extremely successful.  I would love to continue to serve on the Board of Directors and help contribute to  future success!

I believe hockey is for anyone, of any ability, at any age. Our family joined Twin Bridges when our oldest started through the Learn to Play program. He’ll start his second year at 10U in the fall. Our youngest came up through Learn to Play as well and just finished her first year at 8U.

I have served as an administrator at both the 6U and 8U levels here at TBL the last several years. That’s brought me in contact with peers at other associations and helped to give me a greater perspective on youth hockey in the region.

When my daughter started at 6U I decided to step on the ice as a coach. I have progressed through the first several levels of USA Hockey coaching certification, last fall earning a bronze level goalie certification. I have now coached at the 6U, 8U and 10U levels. I appreciate the many, more experienced coaches, who have taken time to share drills, philosophies and ideas to help me improve. To gain more experience, I have been participating in adult learn to play and novice hockey programs for the past year, as well as playing with a women’s team in St. Louis. Trying to learn the same skills as my children has been humbling to say the least!

No doubt our association is going through some growing pains. That’s a good problem to have, really. I want to be part of helping us be united.

I’m so proud of all of our Twin Bridges players. They are what makes this association great. And so my goal, if I am elected to the board, would be to always look at decisions through a lens of what would serve our children best, not only as hockey players, but as young people.

I think anyone who knows me well, knows I’m willing to serve and do the work that needs to be done.

Candidate 6 - Bill Almonroeder

Number of years you have been involved with Twin Bridges Lightning: 3

Do you have children who are planning to play next season?  If yes, what age groups (8U, 10U, etc.) ?  8U

I have been around Twin Bridges for three years now as a coach and took on a more active role as the 6U Lead Coach/Administrator this past season. I would like to expand my involvement and contribute to the club in an even greater capacity moving forward.

While I believe the Twin Bridges organization has made substantial growth and improvements in recent years, I also think there are additional opportunities to build upon that success. One specific area I see room for improvement is making the best hockey experience possible for all levels of ability as well as all levels of time/money commitment. We have an excellent Learn to Play program that is getting more youth experiencing hockey than ever before. We want all of those children to continue playing hockey, but that path is not the same for each individual. I don’t want to see talented players leaving to play on more competitive teams. At the same time, I don’t want players scared away from playing because they don’t want such a serious commitment. Twin Bridges can be an organization for all.

I also would like to see our relationship with Elite strengthened. We have fantastic resources right next door to us and utilizing them could be a key differentiator moving forward.

I am very proud to be part of such a great youth hockey organization and I would love the opportunity to help with future success of Twin Bridges!

Candidate 7 - Jeff Dortch

Number of years you have been involved with Twin Bridges Lightning: 8

Do you have children who are planning to play next season?  If yes, what age groups (8U, 10U, etc.) ?  Yes, I have a second year 14u player and first year 12u player for the 2019-20 season.

Tell the membership in a small bio why you would like to be a member of the Twin Bridges Board...

I would like to introduce myself to those of you who don’t know me.  My name is Jeff Dortch and I am running for the TBL Board of Directors.

I live in Highland, IL with my wife Amber and two girls Maddison and Reagan.  I am a USA Hockey Level 4 coach. Maddison just completed her first year at 14u and Reagan just completed her second year at 10u.

I have been involved with Twin Bridges for 8 years, starting at the Learn to Play level serving as coordinator, then moving onto the 8u ADM program also serving as the coordinator for 1 year, and now have spend several years at the older age levels.  I have served on the Board of Directors for 6 years and currently serve as the Missouri Hockey representative as well as coaching director.

Twin Bridges is a wonderful organization that provides great opportunities to players of all skill levels.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working for the entire membership of Twin Bridges over the last 6 years and would like to continue to serve the membership for another term.  Over the past 6 years I have watched the Club increase enrollment at all ages, expand our program's offerings, and look forward to new and exciting improvements as we look towards the future of the Club!  While everyone enjoys a winning season on the ice, there is so much more I feel our Club offers; friendships, competitiveness, character building, fundraising to name a few.  My goal if re-elected is to continue to work towards making Twin Bridges a destination club that all players are proud to call their home for the duration of their youth hockey careers.
