2023 Board of Director Candidates

Each year Twin Bridges Lightning holds an election for the Board of Directors (BoD). This year there will be three seats up, currently held by Josh Timmins, Mike Rynes and Bryan Clark, with each seat being a 3-year term.

The election will be online only, and each family is entitled to 1-vote.  The election is not for a particular office, such as President, Vice President or Treasurer, but rather a seat on the BoD. The officer positions and committees are appointed annually by the BoD. Those appointments will likely be made a few weeks after the annual meeting.

To submit yourself as a candidate, please click on the link provided. The link will ask you a few basic questions and allow for you to complete a short bio and attach a photograph if you choose.

Timeline for BoD Elections:

April 8th: Online voting begins at 8:00 a.m. (a link will be sent to one family member from Survey Monkey at that time).

April 12th: Online voting will end at 4:00 p.m.

April 12th: Annual Meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. and the election winners will be announced.

Sincerely,

Josh Timmins

Please tell members why you seek a seat on the TBL Board of Directors:

I seek election onto the TBL Board of Directors for a number of reasons. As a former two sport All-State athlete, I know the importance that sport can have on a child’s life. I have the competitive spirit and enthusiasm to further the mission of an already strong organization. As a parent, I want to be more involved and have a greater impact.

My wife and I operate our own small business. I currently coach junior high baseball, high school baseball and high school football.  I am fortunate to have the chance to have an impact on kids’ lives everyday. I would love the opportunity to serve the families of the Twin Bridges Lightning Hockey Club as well.

Along with my bachelors in business management from SIUE, I am currently in the process of receiving my masters of teaching degree from McKendree.

Five years with helping my 2 sons with 6u and 8u hockey.

Please tell members why you seek a seat on the TBL Board of Directors:

I have been a part of TbL hockey since my oldest son started to learn to play. In that time, I have been a part of practices and assisted in coaching. My goal is to provide every TBL player with the best training that we can get for them. With that being said, I would like to find better goalie training for our goalies. In my opinion, that's a major area to improve on.

Previous volunteer experience at TBL:

Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Manager, Rules and Discipline Committee, Board of Directors

Please tell members why you seek a seat on the TBL Board of Directors:

I have volunteered with the Twin Bridges Lightning organization since my oldest child began in the 2016-2017 season. I have served as a head coach and/or assistance coach for all 7-seasons, a team manager for 2-seasons, as well as 3-years on the Board of Directors with the last 2 as President of the Board of Directors. I have two sons playing in the program, one of them in 14U and one who just finished up at 10U.

Over the last three years there has been a nearly complete turnaround of our administration. The prior administration did an amazing job of turning the club’s finances around and leaving us in a comfortable position. I hope to continue to build on the foundation they made, while also putting an enhanced focus on the club’s competitive side.

Please tell members why you seek a seat on the TBL Board of Directors:

My name is Brooke Severt. I have two sons who currently play for TBL with a third that will be on skates before to long. Since my time as a member with TBL, I have assumed the role as team manager as well as planning and organizing jamborees/tournaments at the 6u and 8u level. I would love the opportunity to be given a role on the board. I feel I could be a valuable asset to the club with the organizational and management skills I possess. I want to see the club continue to grow and develop in the right direction. As well as take the steps towards more resources for not only specific positions in hockey, but for hockey families, coaches, and team managers. Thank you for your time and consideration for this position.

Please tell members why you seek a seat on the TBL Board of Directors:

I am applying for a board role for Twin Bridges to help ensure that the organization continues to succeed. I also have a large passion for hockey and want to ensure as many young individuals get exposed to it as possible.

I also feel that I can rely on experience from my professional career side that I can help assist with short, mid, and long term strategy setting for the organization. Also, ensuring that we have a strong marketing footprint and strategy to go along with it. This will help support that exposure piece. The past administration has done a great job and I would love the opportunity to build on that.

Please tell members why you seek a seat on the TBL Board of Directors:

I am running for the Twin Bridges Board of Directors because I want to improve the organization for every player. I played hockey as a youth, and I have coached the sport both inside and outside of the TBL organization. For over ten years, I coached a successful introductory program through the Granite City Park District, where I witnessed the joy that hockey can offer to children under the right circumstances. As a board member for TBL, I plan on addressing issues and problems with a straightforward and common-sense approach that has worked well for me so far. I truly care about improving hockey for every player. I want to make the Twin Bridges experience fun and memorable for every kid who slips on our jersey. With your confidence and vote, I can help to cut through the complications that seem to get in the way of what we all really want: our kids playing the best hockey they can and having the most fun.

I have volunteered with the Twin Bridges Lightning organization for 7yrs. I have Head coached or helped coach from LTP to 12U. My sons will be playing in 10U and 14U next season. I have also been part of the Early Development Committee. My favorite part is to watch the kids that I have coached as LTP kids grow up in the sport and into great young adults.

My goal as a board member will be to help the organization with growing our coaching staff. I want to make sure that all level of players and positions get equal training, coaching, and resources.

Please tell members why you seek a seat on the TBL Board of Directors:

My “why” for pursuing a seat on the Board of TBL is centered around my vision for the club. My two boys have been playing for three years at different levels (C to A) and when I look at our club vs. the other clubs in our Region I see us coming up short. I want to help the club capitalize on the progress that has been made to date and contribute strategically to the vision of where we need to be. Having played sports most of my life I bring a competitive spirit as well as an appreciation for the parent/player/coach relationship.

I am a Graduate of Webster University and my profession involves inspiring sales teams to overdeliver on results. This same philosophy applies to sports and I believe my contributions to the Board can help elevate our teams and our Club.

Please tell members why you seek a seat on the TBL Board of Directors:

My name is Abbie Hodge and I 2 boys that have been playing for TBL for 4.5 years. I have seen great growth within the organization and would be honored to help continue with that growth. I feel that I would support and represent the hockey mom/parent perspective to the board. I would love to see earlier planning and would love to see the kids pushed at practices more (higher intensity) we only have 1 hour for practices drills need to be fast get the kids endurance up for games. I appreciate your consideration.
